Experience three of Kazakhstan’s most breathtaking natural wonders on this full-day adventure from Almaty. Designed for travelers who want to explore the region’s most iconic landscapes in one seamless journey, this tour combines alpine lakes, dramatic canyon scenery, and immersive local insights.
Your day begins early with a central meeting point in Almaty, followed by departure in a comfortable modern minibus equipped with USB and Type-C charging ports at every seat. Sit back and enjoy the scenic drive through the Kazakh countryside as your guide introduces the region’s geography and history.
The first stop is the stunning Kolsai Lake, often called the “Pearl of the Northern Tien Shan.” Surrounded by pine-covered slopes and fresh mountain air, you’ll have approximately two hours to explore the lakeshore, take photographs, or enjoy a peaceful walk along the water. Optional boat or catamaran rides are available for those wishing to experience the lake from a different perspective (not included).
Afterward, stop at a local café for lunch (not included), where you can choose from traditional Kazakh and Central Asian dishes such as plov, lagman, manti, kebabs, and fresh salads.
The adventure continues to the legendary Kaindy Lake. Reached via a rugged off-road transfer in a classic UAZ vehicle, this destination offers a truly unique landscape. The lake is famous for its submerged spruce trees rising vertically from turquoise waters — a surreal natural phenomenon formed after an earthquake. Guests may also opt for a short horseback ride from the nearby village to the lake (additional fee).
In the afternoon, explore the dramatic formations of Charyn Canyon. Often compared to the Grand Canyon, this geological masterpiece features towering red rock cliffs, winding paths, and panoramic viewpoints shaped over millions of years. You will also visit Black Canyon, known for its darker stone layers and cave-like formations. During the summer season, the itinerary may include Moon Canyon, recognized for its lunar-like terrain.
Throughout the journey, knowledgeable local guides provide insights into Kazakhstan’s nature, geology, and cultural heritage. Seasonal comfort touches are included: a cooling neck fan in summer and touchscreen winter gloves in colder months.
By evening, return to Almaty with unforgettable memories of alpine lakes, canyon landscapes, and Kazakhstan’s vast open horizons.
